[CASK REVIEW] By The Horns - Lambeth Walk

Traditional London Porter from a London Brewery.

Lambeth Walk is a dark Porter offered up by South-West London boys, By the Horns Brewery. The beer pours a jet black colour with a strong beige head. On the nose, you get strong hints of cappuccino. To taste, the body of the beer is dominated by a sweet malty richness and milk chocolate flavours. As the flavour develops, a gentle bitterness comes through and the chocolate flavours sharpen to accompany the hop bittering. Overall there is a nice roasted aroma and general feel to the beer, which is well suited to the soft and gentle texture that the beer achieves. At 5.1% this is definitely a proper Porter, and has a depth in flavour and aroma that certainly is in keeping with the beer's London roots. But then again it is produced by lads South of the river, so who would have doubted them? I was lucky enough to get this on cask at Crate Brewery in Hackney Wick.

Excellent beer - and one I will happily have time and time again.
