[CASK REVIEW] Magic Rock - Craft Magic

Sessionable and flavoursome ale from Huddersfield.

Magic Rock brewery are a standard bearer for the new wave of British brewing. Offering a range of beers that are always forward thinking and interesting, I wasn't surprised to come across what was labelled a 'session IPA'; Craft Magic.

At 3.2%, some beer drinkers will be instantly turned away in search of a heftier beer. However Craft Magic shows that weak beers need not be boring. The beer pours a subtle yellow colour, to smell you get a pleasant hop zestiness. To taste, the beer offers a punchy citrus flavour, mellowing out to a fruity finishing bitterness. The beer's body is very light, clear and very refreshing; obviously this can be attributed to the beer's strength, what can else can you expect from a session IPA? What Magic Rock have achieved is that they have shown that weaker beers don't need to lack flavour or feel hollow. I found this beer in good condition at the Craft Beer Co pub in Farringdon.

Overall a great success, and a great sessionable ale.
